Downstream
Nigeria is the 7th largest producer but relies primarily on imported refined products to meet local energy needs. Simply put, Kainji’s strategy is to collocate supply with demand and achieve efficiencies on transportation costs in the freight intensive refining business. While simple, operationalization is quite complex and this complexity is overcome by Kainji’s in country knowledge, experience and relationships. We’re an indigenous company with world class resources and the Company’s management collectively has over 100 years experience with leading Global corporations – internationally and in Nigeria.
REFINERY
Kainji has been licensed for a license to build a 24K BPD refinery in Nigeria (first phase of a 100K BPD Build). Additionally the company has been cleared by the Nigerian Content Division (NCD) regarding local content requirements and the NCD has opined that Kainji's CSR plans for it's host community should be adopted as a template for other similar Oil and Gas projects in Nigeria.
A world class EPC vendor has been identified as the preferred turn key vendor for the refinery and negotiations are currently underway to finalize the EPC contract. The refinery which will be modular in format will be developed in phases, starting at 12,000BPD and then scaling up to 100K BPD in subsequent expansions.
A 100 hectare site has been identified within close (10KM) proximity of feedstock and within close (12KM) proximity of existing surface infrastructure which would connect the refinery to export facilities further south should the Company choose to access the export markets.
GTL
Kainji has completed the Pre-FEED for a GTL plant in Nigeria. This GTL plant provides much needed commercialization opportunities for stranded and flare gas in Nigeria. This approach to commercializing flare gas has imminent benefits for the environment because the produced diesel is much more eco-friendly and the commercialization of the gas eliminates the flaring.
Kainji is working towards deploying an application of the GTL process in Nigeria and West Africa in the near future
